Lake Mary, FL: Foreclosures. Layoffs. Divorce. Everyone has faced tumultuous situations or a personal tragedy in their lives, but what is a Christian supposed to do?

Inspired by a remark made to him by his assistant, Brian Zahnd, senior pastor of Word of Life Church, decided to find out what the Scriptures reveal about others who faced similar circumstances over three thousand years ago.

After an overwhelming response both domestically and overseas, the sermon became the foundation of his book, What to Do on the Worst Day of Your Life (Christian Life, March 2009).

Drawing from the story of David and the disaster at Ziklag, What to Do on the Worst Day of Your Life provides readers with hope and a blueprint for overcoming life’s trials and tribulations by patterning themselves after a biblical king known in Scripture as a “man after God’s own heart.”

“Today a lot of people are going through a hard time,” Zahnd says. “It’s for these people that the story of David’s calamity at Ziklag and how he eventually recovered is so relevant. God’s great work in David’s life was not an odd, one-off miracle but a pattern of faith for all.”

Zahnd offers insight to commonly asked questions, such as: What do you do when you are mad at God? How do you recover from a bad situation? How do you encourage yourself in God? What do you do when trouble hits? Zahnd uses David’s story to present ten principles that will build hope and encouragement for anyone in a time of crisis.

“A story from three thousand years ago inspires us with hope for today,” Zahnd says. “It’s an uncertain time, and people are looking for an anchor of hope. People often feel as if they are facing the worst days of their lives.”
